On Wednesday 8th October October, IGas posted landowner notifications in the villag of Misson declaring their intention to submit a planning permission to Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) for two exploratory wells at Misson Springs. This will probably be within the next few weeks.
Once submitted the application must be validated by NCC before being formally announced on their planning site. Once this happens it will enter a 3 week consultation period for members of the public and consultees (e.g. the Parish Council) when we will be able to submit responses/objections to the application. It is only a very small window of opportunity so we must be prepared.
NCC will have a longer 16 week consultation period before making a decision through the Planning Committee.
There will be mail drops, emails, meetings and public consultation events planned during this time so please watch out for them. Events will be well publicised. I will keep you informed of any developments as they happen.
This is an issue which we all have to address as individuals. To have any effect on the planning process we ALL need to send in objections to the proposal. This means that if there are 4 people in your household, then 4 objections should be sent, not one. The groundwater monitoring borehole application received over 300 responses which is good but we will need a lot more for the next round. When there are events planned we will need as many people as possible to support them.
We will be arranging in drop in sessions to help people write an objection letter (but not write it for them) It is important that such objections are based on material planning considerations to be effective and this is what we will aid people with.
